Agenda
학령인구 감소와 놀이-배움 통합을 지향하는 미래 교육은 우리 학교 공간에 대한 새로운 질문을 던진다. 이 프로젝트는 직육면체 공간에 프로그램을 끼워 맞추던 표준 설계를 뒤집고, 프로그램의 요구가 직접 공간을 빚는 새로운 원리를 제시한다. 그렇게 탄생한 구, 원뿔, 육면체 등 순수 기하학 형태의 공간들은 저마다 고유한 성격을 지니며, 아이들의 상상력으로 완성될 해석의 여지를 품는다. 배움이 공간으로 얽혀 확장되고, 그 세계를 탐험하며 성장할 아이들의 모습을 상상한다.
The declining student population and a future of education compel us to rethink school spaces. This project overturns the standard design of fitting programs into rectangular rooms, instead proposing a new principle where programs directly sculpt the space itself. Thus, pure geometric forms emerge, each possessing a unique character and offering room for children’s interpretation and completion. Envision children exploring this world, where learning intertwines with space.
Design Process
학교 표준 설계의 순서를 뒤집어(상단 → 하단) 프로그램의 요구가 순수한 기하학의 공간을 빚도록 한다. 입체공간들은 서로 관계 맺으며 다채로운 환경을 창조하고, 공간의 엮임은 배움의 확장으로 이어진다. 공간은 아이들의 상상력을 자극하며, 그 해석 속에서 배움으로 거듭난다.
This project redefines school design, letting program needs sculpt pure geometric spaces that interrelate to form dynamic environments. These spaces spark children’s imagination, becoming catalysts for their expanded learning and vital growth.

사고의 육면체는 기존 학교 공간과 닮았지만, 미묘하게 기울어져 자연스러운 전이 공간이자 도서관의 스탠드를 형성한다. ‘공간 놀이터’의 수평적 중심인 관계의 직육면체는 기존 학교 축에서 비틀어져 운동장을 품으며, 창작의 삼각기둥과 함께 운동장의 활용 가치를 더한다.
The Cuboid of Contemplation subtly angles, echoing traditional school forms, yet serving as a transitional space that naturally forms tiered library seating. As ‘Space Playground’s’ horizontal core, the Relational Cuboid twists from the existing campus axis, embracing the athletic field and enhancing its value alongside the Prism of Creation.
기존의 복도는 이제 연결의 곡선으로 확장되어 공간을 누비며 운동장까지 이어진다. 직육면체의 지붕이자 상상의 원기둥과 표현의 원뿔 사이 공간은 학제간 교육의 중심이자 전시에 유연하게 활용된다. 탐구의 구체는 그 형태와 독립성으로 몰입을 유도하며, ‘공간 놀이터’의 구성 원리를 상징하는 표지판이 된다.
The corridor expands into a Connecting Curve, weaving through spaces to the school field. Between the Cylinder of Imagination and the Cone of Expression, the Cuboid’s roof forms a flexible hub for education and exhibitions. The Sphere of Inquiry, distinct in form, fosters immersion and symbolizes ‘Space Playground’s’ design principles.
놀이의 가치를 최우선에 두어, 공간으로 놀이와 배움을 통합한다. 표준설계 학교의 일반 교실과 업무 공간은 그 필요성을 고려해 유지하되, 특별 교실 면적은 ‘공간 놀이터’로 재탄생한다. 기존 건물과 시각적으로 극명한 대비를 이루며, 배움의 즐거움은 체험적으로 극대화된다.
Prioritizing play’s value, this project integrates play and learning through space. Standard classrooms and offices are retained but special classrooms are boldly reimagined as ‘Space Playground.’ This stark contrast maximizes the joy of learning.
3층에서 시작된 복도는 나선형 경사로를 따라 2층의 복도와 유기적으로 이어지며 연결의 곡선을 완성한다. 이 곡선은 다양한 입체도형들을 엮어 하나의 통합된 세계를 만들고, 2층과 3층의 중심 공간을 부드럽게 감싸며 입체도형들 사이의 긴장감을 완화한다. 아이들은 이 엮인 공간 속에서 무한한 상상력을 펼치며 자유롭게 탐험한다.
The third-floor corridor organically descends via a spiral ramp, seamlessly joining the second-floor path to complete the Connecting Curve. This curve interweaves diverse spatial forms into a unified world, gently embracing the central spaces of both levels. Here, children freely explore and ignite their boundless imagination.
‘공간 놀이터’의 수직적 중심인 표현의 원뿔은 그 자체로 악기이자 공명하는 공간이다. 공간의 울림에 이끌린 아이들은 원뿔을 중심으로 펼쳐진 실내외 무대에서 심정을 자유롭게 표현한다. 4층의 음악실은 기울어진 원뿔이 선사하는 독특한 잔향을 느낄 수 있는 공간이며, 아이들의 여정이 도달하는 최종 목적지이기도 하다.
The Cone of Expression, ‘Space Playground’s’ vertical core, acting as a huge instrument. Drawn by its acoustics, children freely express themselves on indoor and outdoor stages. The fourth-floor music room offers an immersive experience of the cone’s distinct reverberation, marking a final destination in children’s exploratory journey.
